LIPOSUCTION IN THE NEW MILLENIUM

Dr. Douglas Taranow is a Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon. Prior to being board certified as a Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Taranow completed a rigorous course of training which included not only general surgery, but extensive experience in the care of burn patients and trauma surgery. Dr. Harvey Perlow is in private practice on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan specializing in restorative cosmetic dentistry. He has developed a unique technique for rejuvenating faces through smile design. I have been a cosmetic dentist in Manhattan for 20 years, counting many celebrities among my clients and of course many average Jack’s and Jill’s. Recently, the public has been inundated with the concept of a “smile makeover” that excludes one’s overall facial appearance. Our faces are as unique as our personalities, and so our smile, our teeth, should “fit” our face, blending with our facial personality.

Ignoring the face, concentrating on the teeth only, results in a phenomenon I call the “Chiclet Effect.” This epidemic of “big, white teeth” makes the teeth, not the eyes, the focal pint of the face.

My technique uses artistic principles of composition to create improved facial esthetics through smile design. The power of this technique can be seen in a “before and after” photo: the increased vitality in the eyes is something to see, and creates the type of change one would expect to see after facial surgery.

OF THE AGING FACE

Dr. Elahi brings a breadth and depth of experience to his orbitofacial plastic surgery practice. After his medical training and residency at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and his fellowship training at Mount Sinai and Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Infirmary, he continued his involvement with the prestigious Mount Sinai in many capacities including teaching clinical medicine and surgery to fellows and residents with diverse medical specialties.
